I think the two most obvious foils for Ludinus Da'leth across all of Critical Role are Essek and Keyleth, which is both fascinating given how different those two characters are from each other (Essek being a foil in terms of isolation, single-mindedness, harm in the name of ambition, knowledge, and other such wizard themes; Keyleth being a foil in terms of people who have lost something at a young age to the gods and bear resentment for it, political leadership, belief that the world belongs to mortalkind, and longevity) but also it's extremely funny that they both are the partners of Liam's character.

Flint and Billy’s dynamic is really so much because you get the impression that Flint thinks about Billy 0.05% of the time at most, whereas Billy thinks about Flint 80% of the time at least.

And Billy also KNOWS that Flint doesn’t think about him and that’s what at least 20% of his thoughts about Flint are about.

Spinearl makes way more sense than most rarepairs from any series do, because literally what other pairing from any semi-recent cartoon can you name that has THAT much in common despite never actually having met or interacted on screen?

They're both pink, but they're opposite kinds of pink (Spinel being darker & warmer pink, while Volleyball is lighter and colder).

Already indicative of the fact that, while they have their own, mildly differing ideas and feelings about their tumultuous relationships with Pink Diamond, they still have their fondness & memory of her and their similarities with her in common.

Speaking of which, in their present physical forms, they both have some kind of marking on their face that's connected to their past trauma relating to Pink Diamond.

Volleyball found Pink and her silly nature and tendencies endearing. Spinel was made to appeal & bond with that exact side of Pink.

Volleyball loved watching Pink juggle. Spinel loved juggling for Pink.
